On 15 May 2026, Pope Leo XIV signed his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, “on the defence of the human being in the age of artificial intelligence”. The work is the first of its rank dedicated to digital technology and Artificial Intelligence, and was launched at an event alongside Anthropic co-founder Christopher Olah.
