The past few months have produced three major developments in the global debate on protecting children online. The first data from Australia has emerged following the ban on social media access for teenagers under 16, introduced in December 2025. The European age verification app was technically launched — and compromised within two minutes. And a large-scale scientific opposition to prohibitive approaches has solidified, a position now shared by Estonia as well. All three of these developments concern us directly, and all three contradict the direction Romania is heading.
