Digitalization: a strategic step or a response to external pressures?
During the special edition of the Upgrade 100 Live Talks show, on Radio Guerrilla, moderated by Marian Hurducaș, Robert Berza, executive director of Edge Institute, analyzed the current status of digitalization, the challenges facing public administration and the steps necessary for Romania to move beyond fragmented initiatives and become a regional leader.
“The mission of the Edge Institute is to help accelerate the digitalization of Romania with a long-term vision“, explains Robert Berza.
The discussion highlighted a clear reality: there is openness to digitalization, but the process is not uniform, and the challenges are related to coordination, long-term strategies and the real involvement of all stakeholders. For digitalization to be not just a process imposed by external pressures, but an authentic transformation, vision, collaboration and effective execution are needed.

Digitalization must simplify citizens’ lives
While digitalization is already a standard in the private sector, public administration still faces bureaucracy and access to digital services remains cumbersome. On Pro TV’s iLikeIT show, Robert Berza explained why digitalization is not just about technology, but more importantly about simplifying the interaction between citizens and the state.
“Digitalization is a transformational process of a society and starts from a simple objective: how can we make people’s lives easier, how can we help them save time through efficient processes, putting technology to work for them, and for them to do the things they do best and are passionate about“, says Robert Berza.
